You probably build portfolio sites and think yours needs to be special. You think a 13 megabyte parallax homepage is going to win you some award banner you can glue to the corner of your site. You think your 40-pound JavaScript bundle and 83 polyfills are impressing anyone. Wrong. Let me describe this perfect portfolio:
I built this from scratch, using nothing: no React, no Tailwind, no Framer Motion, no build step. One line of CSS, and I'm not proud of it.
Well, guess what:
This entire page weighs less than the logo on an average WordPress site. Did you really load 100 kilobytes of JavaScript to animate the background color of a div? Did you load all seven weights of a webfont just to say “Hi.” at 100 pixels tall? This page loaded zero of either, and it finished before you noticed it started. Look at it. You can read it. It makes sense. It has hierarchy. It uses HTML5 tags so your browser knows exactly what everything is. That's semantics. There's content on the screen right now, not three taglines stretched across seven full screens of scroll-hijacking.

You never knew it, but this is the perfect portfolio. Here's why, and here's the part where it proves it's actually a portfolio.
